Obesity and Low Back Pain

The prevalence of chronic low back pain (CLBP) in individuals with obesity, particularly those with a body mass index (BMI) over 40 is notably high.

According to Su et al. 72.8% of morbidly obese patients (BMI ≄ 40) reported low back pain.[1] Additionally, MacLellan et al. found that 69% of obese individuals with a an average BMI 50 reported chronic low back pain.[2]
